Today, Asian countries continue to face various social challenges such as poverty and social inequalities. Social enterprise and social economy have become promising directions to bring about social changes and social development, and have thrived over the past decades with noticeably social impacts.
Since 2010, the International Conference on Social Enterprise in Asia (ICSEA) has emerged as an important platform of exchange and cooperation among academics, researchers and social enterprise practitioners, forming a critical mass which continues to propel social entrepreneurship and social development in Asian countries. In this year, the Centre for Third Sector Studies at APSS is pleased to co-organize the 4th ICSEA with the Social Enterprise Summit of Hong Kong.
The main theme of 2016 Social Enterprise Summit & the 4th ICSEA is “Social Innovation in Asia: from Creativity to Social Impacts”. Social innovation represents new idea/solution that could meet social needs in an efficient, effective and sustainable way. It also accelerates social change by creating new social values. Thus, social innovation has always been an integral part of social enterprise and entrepreneurship.
