Department of Applied Social Sciences of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU APSS) and Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of Simon Fraser University (SFU FASS) join hands to promote exchanges and research in the field of study of gerontology, and applied ageing studies and service.
With the increasing demand for ageing services from a fast-expanding ageing population and the worsening manpower shortage in Hong Kong, APSS is going to introduce a new undergraduate programme entitled Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Applied Ageing Studies and Service Management in 2017-18. It is believed that the collaboration between APSS and FASS will benefit both universities in terms of the academic and research development in ageing service.
The signing ceremony took place today (8 November) at Hotel ICON was presided over by Dr Tim Rahilly, Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Students and International of SFU; Mr Yusuf Varachia, Director of International Strategic Initiatives, SFU International; Professor Angelina Yuen, Vice President (Student and Global Affairs) of PolyU; and Professor Daniel W.L. Lai, Chair Professor and Head of APSS of PolyU.
